Communion Guidelines
We practice open communion, which means communion is open to believers in Jesus Christ only, but it is open to all believers. Therefore, regardless of whether you are a member of this church or not, if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord and are living for Him, you are welcome to participate in this ceremony.
A Note to Parents
According to 1 Corinthians 11:27-29, it is important for those who participate in communion to “examine himself/herself” and to “recognize the body of the Lord”. Recognize means to make a “right judgment”. Therefore, before a child participates in communion, he/she should be able to explain, without any prompting, what the meaning and symbolism of the ceremony represents. When a child has accepted Jesus into his/her heart, following Him the best he/she knows how and can make a “right judgment” about communion, he/she should be allowed to participate. We encourage you to discuss this with your children.
