What is Upper Room Young Adult Ministries?
Upper Room Young Adult Ministries (URYAM) exists to facilitate the spiritual growth and vitality of young Christian adults, ages 18-30’ish, by providing fellowship and solid Biblical exposition in an environment conducive to productive discourse. Challenging topics are tackled and questions are welcome!
When and where do you meet?
Upper Room meets every Tuesday from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Birch Room downstairs.
What goes on at Upper Room?
Upper Room is place where young Christian adults can ask tough questions, enjoy Christ-Centered fellowship, find a mentor, be a mentor, laugh, cry, pray, worship, and grow deeper and more intimate in their relationship with Jesus.
Why do you have a ministry for “Young Adults”?
According to recent stats, approximately 60-70% of young Christian adults leave their local church after High School and do not return for extended periods; in many cases not at all. This heart-breaking fact has burdened Annandale Ev. Free and, after much prayer and seeking God, Upper Room was born as a means of creating both a “home” for our young adults as well as an equipping center for them to “Go forth and make disciples” Matthew 28:19.
I have never been to a Young Adult Ministry, what can I expect from Upper Room?
The atmosphere at Upper Room is both relaxed (jeans & T-shirts welcome!) while at the same time very focused. You can relax and enjoy a hot cup of coffee but there’s no “fluff” here. We take seriously the call to “redeem the time because the days are evil” Ephesians 5:15
I attend another church, can I still come to Upper Room on Wednesday night?
Absolutely!! If you have questions regarding our doctrinal stances(s), just click on “About” on the home page and go to “our beliefs”. As we recognize that “JESUS is the head of the body, the church” Colossians 1:18, and in Him we find unity and strength.
Is there childcare?
Yes, for ages 0-3!
What age qualifies as “Young Adult”?
This was a tough question for us to put an exact number on so we say 18-30′ish. You pray about how far outside the “ish” you are!
