Attack on Titan Gets First-Look Reveal for 'Battle for Liberio' (2)

The world of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan franchise is one where humans zoom through the skies while taking down gargantuan monsters. Next month, Japan's popular flight simulator, Fuji Airways, will allow AoT fans to step into this world with an immersive CG ride based on the series' iconic "Liberio Raid" sequence.

Per PR Times, Fuji-Q Highland's amusem*nt park in Yamanashi Prefecture recently unveiled its upcoming attraction titled "Attack on Titan: The Ride: Battle of Rebellion," which utilizes Fuji Airways' first-person simulation tech to create a brand-new experience based on AoT's final season. The park's official website provides a detailed description: "As a new recruit of the Survey Corps, you will join Levi, Mikasa and Jean in a mission to support Eren, who is fighting five powerful Titans. Use the 3D Maneuver Gear that allows for quick aerial movement and the 'Lightning Spear,' an anti-Titan weapon to face off against Titans such as 'Beast,' 'Jaw,' and 'Cart.'" The ride is scheduled to open on Sept. 17, 2024.

Japan Gets Its First Attack on Titan Fight Simulation Ride at Fuji-Q Highland

As shown in the promotional visuals, "Attack on Titan: Battle for Rebellion" recreates the franchise's iconic titans with realistic CG designs not seen in the Attack on Titan anime. These images play out on a 20-meter-long screen with a hemispherical design that envelops the riders, creating a fully immersive space. The seats themselves also move according to the action on screen. As the sequence unfolds, riders' seats will "violently" move up-and-down and side-to-side, simulating the sensation of using 3D Manueuvering Gear during a chaotic titan battle. The entire experience lasts roughly eight minutes and will cost approximately 2,000 yen (US$13.80) per person.

Fuji-Q Highland currently hosts one other Attack on Titan-inspired attraction. Initially launched in 2023, "Attack on Titan: The Ride - Wall Maria Final Recapture Mission" recreates the sequence in which the military attempts to retake one of humanity's protective walls from the invading Titans. Unlike its successor, this attraction is inspired by the first half of the series, specifically Season 1, Episodes 1 and 2 of Wit Studio's original Attack on Titan anime series. Likewise, "Wall Maria Final Recapture Mission" also features a first-person simulation experience where riders "fight" alongside human soldiers against encroaching titans. This attraction is scheduled to close on Aug. 31, 2024.
